FRAN VENET - Painter/photographer

Born in Paris in 1947, father well known cartoonist /, drawing and painting were part of daily life from an early age.

Studied in "les Beaux Arts" in Paris for a couple of years then moved to London and studied at the "St.Martin's School of Art" between 1966 and 1969. Lived the swinging 60ies to the full.

Travelled round the USA, Africa, lived in Great Britain for 25 years, all of which influenced a taste and style in painting and photography for nature, and music. Selecting the subject/composition focuses on vibrant colours, graphics, with a personal insight on jazz artists over the 12 years spent as Ronnie's partner in the world famous Ronnie Scott's Club in London Soho.

Many exhibitions in France and the U.K. Teaching art both in France and in England, last teaching at the Chestnut Grove Art School early 2000 in London (Tooting)

Back in France since 2004, in the Loire Valley, the vibrant colours are still as strong despite the slow pace of life and change of subject since more abstract and more textured paintings are created.

Nature remains the main subject, with the exception of a series of work on David Bowie following his sudden departure, such a loss.
